Tools for environmental training for SMEs in Austria
General Information
In Austria, education on sustainable development is based on international agreements such as the Agenda 21 and the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation and is claimed nationally by the Austrian Strategy for Sustainable Development.
The Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management and the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture started the initiative “FORUM Umweltbildung” (Environmental education FORUM). It operates as an innovation- and project agency of the two ministries within the environmental umbrella organization and serves as educational institution in order to establish sustainable development nationwide.
Further education for SMEs is also offered by the Institute for Economic Advancement (WIFI), an institution founded by the Austrian Economic Chamber (WKO).
But not only public institutions, also private companies offer environmental trainings for SMEs. Nearly all establishments which offer environmental trainings for SMEs in Austria are listed below (chapter 2: Specific Information).
